JACK RABBIT STARTS
Maybe someone would like to take up this question:
About 1960 when I was at the General Motors Engineering Staff about 1958 I heard that a "Jack rabbit start is not so bad" because getting into high gear and cruise throttle quickly was better than slowly working up through the lower gears at part throttle.
Maybe that was true when all cars had carburetors and torque converters with relatively poor efficiency. Does any other old time engineer recall that? Believe it?
